A fine unbeaten 46 from captain Rohit Sharma backed up Axar Patel’s miserly spell as the Indian side overcame Australia by six wickets in a rain eight match in Nagpur on Friday September 24 to tie the game. three-game series.
After getting a well-deserved chance, Axar’s two-wicket flurry delayed the Australian innings. But a late flurry of six from in-form Matthew Wade took the visitors to a competitive 90/5 in eight overs. In response, Rohit led forward before Dinesh Karthik finished things off in the final.
Here are India’s player ratings (out of 10) for the second T20I against Australia.
IND vs AUS 2022: Harshal expensive, Bumrah impressive for India
KL Rahul: 6/10
Rahul hit a deliciously spun six over the midwicket but lost his stumps to Adam Zampa in the third.
Rohit Sharma: 9.5/10
The star of India’s batting effort, Rohit cut and fought his way to an undefeated 46 filled with blows. He also managed most things with his captaincy.
Virat Kohli: 6.5/10
Kohli meant business, hitting two well-timed fours on the ground, but ran down the field towards arch-nemesis Zampa and lost his leg stump in the process. He was all over the pitch, bombarding a tough chance from deep but catching it immediately with a superb throw to crush Cameron Green.
Suryakumar Yadav: 1/10
SKY only lasted one ball, playing a sweep on a ball that was way too full for the shot.
Hardik Pandya: 6.5/10
The first on Hardik threatened to produce wickets but cost 10 runs. His run-a-ball 9 helped India but he couldn’t complete the chase.
Dinesh Karthik: 10/10
DK, the finisher, finally made an appearance after a long while, hitting a six and a four in icy fashion to send India over the line.
Axar Patel: 9/10
Axar’s superb spell, in which he casted the dangerous duo of Glenn Maxwell and Tim David, was the turning point of the first set. The left arm spinner seems to be in a rich vein of bowling form.
Rishabh pants: 5/10
Brought in to reinforce the stick, Pant had nothing to do. He receives a standard grade.
Harshal Patel: 2/10
For the second game in a row, Harshal was terribly expensive. He leaked 32 runs in the two overs he played to the death as Matthew Wade again took special affection for him. India will be concerned about the form of their returning fast bowler.
Yuzvendra Chahal: 4/10
Chahal conceded 12 points in his only over, with his only stolen delivery of the game costing him. It was a curious decision to get the ball flying, with speed through the air proving to be the spinners’ ally in Nagpur.
Jasprit Bumrah: 7.5/10
A couple of brand yorkers caused a few smiles among the audience when Bumrah returned after a long break. A little time in the middle would have helped him enormously.
