An American F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at an air base in the Middle East, CNN reported, citing sources.
According to the TV channel, the plane, which was carrying out a combat mission, was shot down over Iran. The F-35 was able to land successfully and the accident is currently being investigated.
As CNN points out, this is the first time since the beginning of the war that Iran has been able to shoot down an American plane.
