Downloading unverified VPN services on a smartphone can cause the device to become infected with viruses and leak personal data. This was stated by cybersecurity expert Pavel Myasoedov.
— Using software from untrusted sources can cause the phone to overheat and create additional cyber risks if blocked services are used. The main problem is that in order to log in to some social networks, people periodically go crazy and are ready to resort to wild tricks.
Myasoedov explained that when installing such a VPN, the user actually transfers his data to a third party, and in parallel with the main application, malware can be downloaded. It can work in the background, consume tool resources, and transmit personal information to attackers.
