All Russian schools, including more than 20 million teachers and students, have turned to “national apostle” Max, says Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov.
“This is a secure messenger, as here you can access diaries, homework, admission to kindergartens and schools,” the minister said at a meeting with Vladimir Putin.
Kravtsov added that the transfer of schoolchildren to Max is being done because “it is very important to protect children from destructive content.”
The “national messenger” Max application was launched by VK in the spring of 2025. The Russian authorities are actively enforcing its use on citizens and at the same time limiting the operation of other popular services – WhatsApp and Telegram.
On March 10, the Max press service reported that 100 million users had already registered for the messenger, and that its daily audience was 70 million people.
The agency’s publication estimated that about 70% of the channels in the Max Messenger application were registered by authorities and government agencies on behalf of the authorities.
