Las Rozas (Madrid), 20 September (EFE) – Marco Asensio expressed his hope, nine months before the expiration of his contract with Real Madrid and after ruling out leaving the club in the last market, to receive an extension offer soon, but did not deny. information that put him in the orbit of Barcelona or assured him that he would not play for the Barça team.

“Hopefully an extension can be given,” Marco Asensio assured Cope in an interview with El Great Match. “Let’s see what happens, you never know, in the world of football everything can change very quickly. I can’t say anything more because I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

When asked about Barcelona’s interest, Asensio made it clear that he was focused on Real Madrid and the national team, but did not close the door. “I really don’t know. I’m really focused on who I am. I only think about the present, now, giving all my strength to the national team and my club”

“I didn’t think about it[playing for Barcelona]and I didn’t appreciate it. Now I can’t give an answer, I don’t know. These are the things that come out. This morning I had 200 messages. I tell you that I am in a world where there are a lot of rumors, speculation, and this is normal. In seven months I can sign with any club and for many it is normal and they will leave with more confidence. We are in a circle where there will be news every day and I can’t control it.”

Asensio spoke about the difficult summer he considered leaving Real Madrid and explained his reasons for choosing to stay. “I have a good moment, calm. August was a little more difficult due to the uncertainty, but I’m happy with the decision.

“Obviously, there were options. In the end, the decision I made was that I still feel confident that I can help Real Madrid, I want to keep winning trophies with the club. I think it was right and I’m really looking forward to it. In the end, this too was not a decision that was entirely up to me. These are things that you need to talk about with the club, with the coach, you weigh everything and make a decision from there. But I never thought that I could leave because of the project and because of Ancelotti’s confidence.”

After he was greeted by the Madrid fans with a whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu, Asensio explained the reason for his anger at running out of minutes in the match against Mallorca and stayed with the people who applauded him.

“There will always be discussions. I am a person who shows me when I am happy and when I am angry. There was no change, for me it was a special game, because it was against the former team, we played in a draw, I thought I could help. He was unlucky due to a teammate’s injury, but he won in the end and this remains a joke. Zero problems with the coach,” he said.

“The only thing I thought about with a whistle was to try to change the situation, let them see that my commitment is one hundred percent, as it was during these seven years in Madrid. Then the moment of the goal and the applause is what I keep. I have a lot of respect for the Madrid fans at the Bernabéu, they can freely express their opinion. I think we should always go for one, that’s how we could always win a lot of things.”

SUPPORT FOR VINICIUS: “Watch football with pleasure”

When Vinicius was in the spotlight for his celebrations with dancing and all that was going on around his figure with racist slurs, Marco Asensio showed his partner’s full support.

“He is a very modest boy and looks at football with joy. Let him dance when he celebrates goals, if he does not show disrespect, I think that’s perfect. Everyone wants to see joy, good football, and that’s what Vini broadcasts. Obviously, racism is something that should be put aside. I think they are in the minority. It’s not all hobbies. The people who do this should not sully the hobby or the whole country.

Vinny knows this. When something that has happened has such consequences, it is because there is something that we have to stop that has no place in our society,” he added.

Finally, he acknowledged that Vinicius was motivated by picks and provocations. “He is young and I am sure he has a lot to learn. There are also players for whom this controversy, this fight is good for motivating themselves, and I think that he also motivates himself with all this.”
