MFA summons Hungarian ambassador and demands an apology for Orbán’s scarf

The Foreign Ministry is demanding an apology for the incident with the appearance of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a scarf depicting Hungary with part of Ukrainian territory.

This is stated in the comments of the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko on the summons of the Hungarian ambassador to Ukraine, Ukrinform reports with reference to the press service. MFA.

“On November 22, the Hungarian ambassador to Ukraine, Istvan Iydjarto, was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, whose attention was drawn to the inadmissibility of the public appearance of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a scarf depicting Hungary with part of Ukrainian territory.’ says the commentary.

The attention of the Hungarian diplomat was drawn to the fact that such actions do not contribute to the development of good neighborly relations between Ukraine and Hungary.

It was stressed that Ukraine is waiting for an apology for this incident and hopes that in the future the Hungarian side will refrain from any steps that could be considered as disrespect for the territorial integrity of our state.

As reported by Ukrinform, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban came to a friendly football match between the national teams of Hungary and Greece in Budapest on November 21 with a scarf depicting a map of “Greater Hungary” with parts of neighboring states in the composition .
