On Cultural Workers Day, museum staff shared stories about how and why they chose their profession, what they consider the purpose of their work, and what they consider most important. This was reported on Wednesday, March 25 by the press service of the Ministry of Culture in Moscow.
Oleg Krzyzhanovsky, Head of the Exhibition Department of the State Defense Museum in Moscow, and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, has been participating in exhibition activities for more than 15 years. Extensive work experience formed the basis of his Ph.D. thesis.
“Many of our visitors are school-age children, and if we museum workers can convey the right meanings to them, our work benefits people. This is what I see as the goal of my work – everyone should be in their place,” he believes.
Director of the Moscow State Museum SA Yesenina Sofya Lapidus has been working for more than seven years. Before that, her professional interests were also related to poetry: Sofia led a literary studio in the Moscow Longevity Project, traveled with poets to St. Petersburg, and read poetry in the Gulf of Finland.
“Working at the Literary Museum has opened up more opportunities to do what I love, which is to exchange knowledge about literature, read Sergei Yesenin’s poems and talk about his life and works. Being a link between the poet and the museum guests is a great responsibility, but at the same time a valuable experience,” Lapidus said.

An exhibition dedicated to the skilled crafts of women of the 19th and early 20th centuries has also been opened in the Kolomenskoye Peasant Estate complex in the Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve.
