Petition against mobilization

The petition was launched in April amid rumors of a possible mobilization in Russia. After these reports were not confirmed, the authors decided to expand the collection of signatures for the entire period of the so-called “special military operation” in Ukraine. By May, 50,000 people had signed the petition.

On the morning of September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in Russia to continue the war against Ukraine. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that in army call for 300,000 reservists. In general, there are about 25 million people in the military reserve in Russia.

In the West, Putin’s decision was received sharply negatively. In Germany, for example, the announcement of the mobilization in Russia called a manifestation of weakness, and in France – a manifestation of imperialism.
