Madrid, 20 September (EFE).- Rogelio López-Cuenca (Nerja, Málaga, 1959) received the 2022 National Plastic Arts Prize of €30,000 for “an important contribution to the creation of a critical history of Spanish art from the 1980s years to the present,” the Ministry of Culture and Sports said on Tuesday.

The jury’s decision emphasizes that López Cuenca’s work is “based on a commitment to the historical time and territory in which he lived, the transformation and continuity of Spanish society at the turn of the century, the violence and turmoil that globalization entails.” .
