Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal will be seen in action from Friday

‘The Big-Four’ – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will join hands as a team for the first time in their illustrious careers as they prepare to represent Team Europe at the Laver Cup. They will be joined by rising European stars Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas as well as alternates Cameron Norrie and Matteo Berrettini.

The tournament will take place from Friday September 23 to Sunday September 25 at the O2 Arena in London. In addition, an open practice day will be held on Thursday, September 22.

Players from both teams will compete in a combination of singles and doubles matches with the goal of accumulating 13 points to be declared the winners.

Roger Federer, who hasn’t played an official match since moving to the Wimbledon quarter-finals in 2021, said we will play a doubles match on Friday night and then be replaced by Matteo Berrettini to take part in the rest of the matches.

“It’s an ATP event that I don’t want to mess with, but at the same time I know my limits and that’s why I asked Bjorn [Borg] if it was good if i was playing maybe just a doubles, and i guess it would have to be friday night. And then Matteo [Berrettini] would come for me and should play for me on Saturday. Bjorn said everything was fine. He spoke to John [McEnroe] as well. They talked to the tournament and the ATP if everything was fine and everyone said it was fine,” Federer said.

The event will mark Federer’s swansong as he pulls back the curtain on a two-and-a-half-decade career.
