In response to a request from the State Duma deputy of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Yuri Sinelchikov, Rosselkhoznadzor said that the outbreak of animal diseases in the Novosibirsk region occurred due to mistakes made by the authorities, atypical forms of pasteurellosis and weather.
The representative asked to reveal the reasons for the spread of the disease among animals in the region. Officials responded published In her Telegram channel “Bloody Lady” Ksenia Sobchak.
The basic conditions for the “introduction of the disease” to the territory of the Novosibirsk region were “inappropriate actions taken by the regional leadership, the lack of objective accounting of farm animals, and the presence of conditions for unauthorized movement of farm animals,” according to Rosselkhoznadzor’s response.
The administration claims that the situation was complicated by “the presence of atypical forms of the causative agent of pasteurellosis,” which, combined with harsh weather conditions and weak immunity of livestock, led to a severe form of the disease.
Rosselkhoznadzor said that no new cases of the disease had been recorded in the Novosibirsk region for more than 20 days. The ministry added, “The situation is under the control of the federal and regional authorities and will be fully stabilized as soon as possible.”
Since the end of 2025, several Russian regions, including the Novosibirsk region, have been affected by mass disease outbreaks in livestock. The authorities confiscated the animals and killed them, explaining that their actions were an outbreak of rabies and pasteurella. Farmers responded by organizing protests and blocking roads.
Meanwhile, pasteurellosis in animals is treated with antibiotics. By law, sick livestock do not have to be killed. That’s why Experts and sources Russian publications suggested that we could talk about a more dangerous disease – foot-and-mouth disease.
In early April, Chinese authorities recorded an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in two herds of cattle in the northwest of the country. One of the areas where animals became ill lies on the border of the Altai Republic, where there had previously been a mass outbreak of the disease in livestock.
