Russian competitor Saygid Izagakhmaev wants to return home and spend time with his family before considering his next big appearance inside the Circle.

At ONE 163 on Saturday, Izagakhmaev picked up the biggest victory of his career, defeating Asian martial arts legend Shinya Aoki in dominant fashion. It took just 86 seconds for the No. 4-ranked lightweight to put Aoki away, dropping the former lightweight world champion with a powerful right hand.

Izagakhmaev followed that up with ground and punches, forcing the referee to step in and stop the carnage. His impressive first-round finish also earned him a $50,000 bonus from the ONE Championship CEO.

During his post-fight interview at ONE 163, Saygid Izagakhmaev said he would like to get away from the Circle a bit to go home. While there, he will spend some of his newfound wealth and spend time with his family before returning.

“I haven’t been home for two months. I want to stay home a bit, spend time with my family. I won a lot of money this time, so I want to spend some. And then let’s see when the next one is. I’m ready.”

Is Saygid Izagakhmaev next for two-division world champion Christian Lee?

Just hours before Saygid Izagakhmaev dispatched Shinya Aoki to ONE 163, Christian Lee made ONE Championship history, winning the ONE World Welterweight Title in a Fight of the Year against Kiamrian Abbasov.

Now the holder of the ONE world lightweight and welterweight championships, “The Warrior” certainly has a few options available, but when it comes to defending his lightweight crown, one man makes sense.

With Christian Lee having already beaten three of the top five contenders in the lightweight division, a showdown with Izagakhmaev would seem like the next logical step. Lee also mentioned defending the ONE world welterweight title against the winner of next month’s highly anticipated match between newly signed Roberto Soldic and undefeated Russian contender Murad Ramazanov.

With both fighters having earned the biggest wins of their respective careers, it’s probably far too early to speculate what’s next for each, but it’s clear that Saygid Izagakhmaev and Christian Lee are on a collision course.
