“Today, more than 300 settlements with a population of 150 thousand people in the Kharkiv region have been evacuated. UN aid in these areas is urgently needed. There is an urgent need to provide the affected population with financial, psychological, social and medical assistance, assistance in the rehabilitation and rehabilitation of civilian infrastructure, as well as humanitarian demining,” Shmyhal said at the meeting.

He also pointed to the need to involve the UN capacities for the demilitarization of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, in particular the organization of an appropriate monitoring mission.

Zelenskaya, for her part, emphasized that the UN’s voice is heard in all countries, even the aggressor country, so Ukraine hopes the UN will use that voice to protect Ukrainian children.

“Your decision to include the situation in Ukraine in the current report on children in armed conflict is fundamental to us as it will ensure proper monitoring by the UN system of crimes against children committed on a daily basis by Russian authorities. occupiers in Ukraine,” the first lady said.
