The world’s weakness towards Russia in 2014 led to even more aggression, so now it is necessary to learn from the mistakes made in the past.

That said President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Chaputova during the UN General Assembly, reports a correspondent from Ukrinform.

“Today we witness how one of the five permanent members (of the UN Security Council. – Ed.) openly denies another member of the UN – Ukraine – the right to exist as an independent state … 141 countries condemned Moscow’s war against Ukraine in a resolution of the General Assembly. No veto can change the obvious truth – that Russia today, to defend world peace, is doing everything it can to destroy it. Moscow’s aggression has wreaked havoc on the whole world,” Chaputova said.

She stressed that thousands of innocent civilians have been killed in Ukraine. The war has forced millions of people to flee their homes. And millions more people around the world are on the brink of starvation because of Russia’s actions, which have fueled an already severe global food crisis.

“We must all become the voice of Ukraine. A voice that will continue to speak about Russian crimes in Ukraine so that no one is allowed to commit such atrocities. Vladimir Putin hoped to take over Ukraine and scare us all, he failed the field speaks of this struggle in Ukraine,” she said.

According to her, we must learn from the mistakes made in the past. Mainly due to the lack of determination after the events of 2014.

“Soft sanctionsimposed by us, could not stop Russia from moving forward. Our weakness has led to more aggression. We must not repeat the same mistakes,” she emphasized.

As reported, on September 20, the general debates of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly began, where the heads of state, government leaders and heads of foreign affairs of the member states took the floor. Ukraine wants to expand cooperation with foreign countries at the expense of Africa, Asia and Latin America, and develop mechanisms to hold Russia responsible for the crime of aggression.

President Volodymyr Zelensky will speak during the evening session of the General Assembly via video message during the general debate on Wednesday, September 21.
