Tesla Insurance is a competitively priced insurance product that offers Tesla owners a new option.
Tesla has a unique understanding of its vehicles, technology, safety features, and repair costs, which helps eliminate some of the fees associated with traditional insurance companies. Tesla Insurance provides convenient monthly payments and manages claims easily through the Tesla app.
It also gives you partial control as the insurance premium depends in part on your driving habits.
The service is currently only available in select US states, but it continues to expand to other states. Tesla CEO Elon Musk says it will also expand to Canada in the future.
Tesla insurance is currently available to Tesla owners in the following states:
New and current Tesla owners can purchase an insurance policy on the Tesla app by tapping the profile icon in the top right corner and selecting Get Tesla Insurance.
If you have recently placed an order for Tesla, you will need to wait for the VIN to be assigned before ordering Tesla Insurance.
Tesla insurance covers not only Tesla vehicles, but any other vehicles you may own.
You can add additional vehicles when applying for a policy.
However, Tesla Insurance is currently limited to vehicles and Tesla does not offer home insurance or other types of insurance policies.
What do you get with Tesla insurance?
With Tesla Insurance, you can view documents, billing, payment details, and apply from the Tesla app.
As with other insurance companies, there are many plans with different levels of coverage depending on your needs.
How does Tesla insurance work?
Tesla collects vehicle data that helps evaluate how the vehicle handles.
Unlike other insurance products, Tesla does not require an additional device to be installed in the vehicle. Instead, Tesla uses features already enabled to determine how often the car is moving, and how often the driver follows too closely or stops abruptly.
This data is then used to determine the driver’s insurance premium.
The insurance premium also depends on the model of the vehicle, the location of the insured and the distance the vehicle is moving.
Tesla Insurance users make monthly payments based on their driving behavior rather than factors commonly used by other insurance providers such as credit, age, gender, claim history and driver’s records.
Each insurance company has different factors that determine their costs and the likelihood of their customers having an accident. While Tesla Insurance can save you money, it can also cost more than alternatives available in your state.
According to Tesla, “The average driver can save 20% to 40%, and the safest drivers can save 30% to 60%.”
We’ve seen scenarios where Tesla Insurance saves someone hundreds of dollars a month, but we’ve also seen it cost significantly more than its competitors.
There are many factors that determine the amount of an insurance premium. If you’re new to Tesla or haven’t made a purchase in a few years, we recommend getting a free quote from Tesla to see if Tesla Insurance saves you money.
The cost of Tesla insurance is insanely low. Six cars are covered with two blankets and includes my brother in coverage for $599 a month! 9,000 miles/car $500 compensation, accident $1,000. Progressive wanted over $1k/month??♂️ @elonmusk pic.twitter.com/rAWDjoxJi8

The Model Y is one of the safest production vehicles because Tesla is constantly taking steps to improve its outstanding safety ratings.
The latest safety improvement comes from Tesla China, where Gigafactory Shanghai has started rolling out the Model Y with an extra airbag.
The new airbag optimizes the Model Y’s all-round safety and can help prevent front passengers from colliding with each other. With the new update, Giga Shanghai’s Y models now come standard with an optional side airbag.
Tesla has officially announced the addition of a new Chinese-made Model Y airbag on Weibo. The translation reads:
“Design with safety first! Tesla China Intelligent Model Y has been equipped with “remote airbags” as standard equipment to comprehensively protect your safety during your trip. #Tesla uses smart security to protect every consumer and the security gene is always the same #ThisisTesla
An additional side airbag is mounted on the inside of the driver’s seat. When deployed, the airbag can significantly reduce contact injuries between the front passengers in a side collision. According to Euro NCAP, about 25% of road traffic injuries are the result of side collisions.
This upgrade can make a significant difference during side collisions, when passengers are usually thrown into each other.
The addition of a new airbag to the Model Y Made in China (MiC) is likely one of the many recent upgrades to the Model Y production line at the Gigafactory in Shanghai. Based on this, we could soon see an additional side airbag added to the China-made Model 3, whose production lines at Giga Shanghai have also recently been upgraded.
We may also see this update roll out to other Gigafactories around the world in the near future. As we’ve seen with other Tesla features, Tesla often adds a feature in one factory and then upgrades other factories when possible.

Tesla’s first electric semi-trailer will have a range of 500 miles and will begin shipping this year, according to founder and CEO Elon Musk. Musk has previously said that the model will hit the roads in 2023, just like the Tesla pickup, dubbed the Cybertruck. The estimated arrival date of the Cybertruck has not changed.
The Tesla semi-trailer, introduced in November 2017, is designed for long-distance transportation. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds when fully loaded, which is faster than most diesel trucks.
With 500 miles on a single charge, the Tesla Semi Truck has more than double the range of the longest-range electric truck on the market, the Daimler eCascadia, which has a range of 230 miles.
The Tesla Semi Truck is also significantly cheaper to operate than a diesel truck, according to Tesla. The company estimates that the Tesla Semi will cost $1.26 per mile to operate, compared to $1.51 per mile for a diesel truck.
Since the company began taking orders for the truck in 2017, some of the most significant orders have come from the likes of UPS, Walmart and PepsiCo. The initial deposit required for the order was $5,000, but after the event in November 2017, this was increased to $20,000.
The company hasn’t said how many trucks it plans to produce, but based on Tesla’s past statements, we can expect the price of regular production versions for 300-mile (480 km) and 500-mile (800 km) versions to be $150,000. and $180,000, respectively.
The Tesla semi-trailer is part of the company’s push to electrify the transportation sector, which accounts for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions. Tesla also makes electric vehicles and SUVs, and plans to launch an electric truck next year. Tesla’s ultimate goal is to transition the world to sustainable energy.
