Russian President Dmitry Peskov’s press secretary told RIA Novosti that the Telegram messenger app must adhere to Russian laws so as not to be completely blocked in Russia.

“Adhere to the provisions of the legislation of the Russian Federation, be in flexible contact with our authorities and find an option to solve these problems that we are facing,” Peskov answered when asked what conditions the messenger must fulfill.

At the end of February, Baza, RBC and The Bell wrote that Telegram would be completely blocked in Russia on April 1. RBC’s interlocutors close to the Kremlin described the blocking decision as final. Durov himself linked this case to the attempts of the authorities to come up with a reason to block the telegram.
