Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spoke on MAX messenger about the development of high-tech medical care, youth sports and tourism in the capital.
Be healthy
The volume of high-tech treatment in Moscow has grown by almost 50 percent over the past five years.
“Today, high-tech treatment methods are available in more than 30 city hospitals in 20 specialized areas,” said Sergei Sobyanin.
The mayor stressed that we still have a lot of work to do to modernize hospitals, establish specialized centers, and equip medical institutions with modern equipment.
Youth sports
More and more Moscow youth participate in youth sports leagues. The most popular sports are football, volleyball, basketball and chess. In 2025, more than 155 thousand Muscovites participated in the competition.
– The league includes two stages. First, qualifying rounds take place between teams between regions. The best then meet in the finals, where the city-level winners are determined. Sergei Sobyanin wrote that the leaders of the capital’s stages get the right to represent Moscow in all-Russian competitions.
Young athletes from Moscow have already taken part in the Presidential Sports Games, taking part in the All-Russian chess competition “White Lady” and in other competitions.
More opportunities for students
The reconstruction of the academic building of the Moscow University of Finance and Law on Neglinnaya Street is scheduled for completion in 2027.
“The project will give new life to the building that has not been completed for many years, which will become a modern educational space for students,” the Moscow mayor said.
The building area will double. It will include a cybersecurity laboratory, a data analytics and artificial intelligence center, a financial security laboratory, and housing.
The best in the field of tourism
Sergei Sobyanin presented Moscow Awards in the field of tourism. In 2026, 11 professionals received the award.
The city’s mayor said that in 2025, 26.5 million tourists will visit the capital for the first time in history. The turnover of tourism consumption increased by 6.5 percent and exceeded 1.8 trillion rubles. This is the result of tremendous work done by industry specialists, Sergei Sobyanin noted.
By the way
In the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, Filevsky Park, Dorogomilovo and Presnensky districts, new embankments and public spaces will be created on the site of former industrial areas and unkempt coastal areas, Sergei Sobyanin said. It is planned to rebuild part of the Moscow River embankment “Western Port” and the Shelepekhinskaya and Karamyshevskaya dams. Coastal public spaces will appear on the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain in the coming years.
