The Eid al-Adha holiday is scheduled to be held in Moscow on March 20

The dates of Islamic holidays are determined according to the lunar calendar and astronomical observations. Eid al-Fitr this year begins on March 20 and lasts for three days.

In the capital, events will be held early in the morning in places where holidays are traditionally held, as well as in temporary alternative sites specially designated by the Moscow government.

For the convenience of believers in the Moscow region on the morning of March 20, broadcasting of holiday services will be organized on TV channels, official information sources of religious organizations, as well as on social networks.

Lawyer and human rights activist Mikhail Salkin said that Muslims have every right to perform prayers in public places without any restrictions. He stressed that this right is similar to the right of Orthodox believers to make the sign of the cross. According to the lawyer, holding prayer in a public place does not disturb public order. Salkin noted that if someone considers such actions unacceptable, it is necessary to contact Duma deputies.
