The government transferred ₴12.7 billion to Naftogaz for the purchase of gas in Ukrainian storage facilities

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to provide UAH 12.7 billion to NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine for the purchase of gas.

“The government has transferred UAH 12.7 billion to Naftogaz for the purchase of gas in Ukrainian storage facilities. Previously, Ukraine received this money from the government of Canada. At today’s meeting, we approved the procedure for using state budget funds for gas purchases in 2022-2023,” Shmyhal said.

He also said Norway has allocated about €200 million to Ukraine for gas purchases this week. Prior to this, the EBRD agreed to make €300 million available for these needs. The money will also be provided by NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine.

“This is a very important step to steadily get through the difficult winter,” the prime minister stressed.

As reported, on November 21, Norwegian Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to finance NOK 2 billion for Ukraine to buy natural gas this winter.

As of November 8, Ukraine has accumulated 14.6 billion cubic meters of gas. Also, 1.5 million tons of coal is stored in the warehouses of combined heat and power plants and combined heat and power plants.
