Israeli Channel 12 reported that Mojtaba Khamenei was injured on March 7, citing sources. According to the TV channel, he was injured as a result of an air strike on February 28, the first day of the American and Israeli attack on Iran. The New York Times later wrote that Khamenei was wounded in his leg on the first day of the war, and thus has not appeared in public or made any statements since his election.
Iran announced the election of a new supreme leader on March 8. Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, is the second son of Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli-US air strike on February 28.
