Head of the Occupation Administration of the captured RF Forces Kherson region Speaking to the residents of this Ukrainian region, Volodymyr Saldo announced the decision to hold a referendum on his accession to the Russian Federation. On Tuesday, September 20, he said that the decision was taken after appeals from public organizations and residents, and promised to turn to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to approve the results of the referendum as soon as possible. “I am sure that this procedure will not take long,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier in the day, the “Public Council” of the occupied Kherson region launched an initiative to hold an immediate referendum, highlighting the need to restore “historic justice”, secure the region and create new opportunities .

On the same day, the public movement “We are together with Russia” in Russian-occupied Zaporozhye . region appealed to the head of the occupation administration, Yevgeny Balitsky, to hold a similar referendum in this region.

In the “LPR” and “DPR” on the eve called for immediate referenda

On the eve of the “Public Chamber” of the self-proclaimed “Luhansk People’s Republic” appealed to the “head” of the region, Leonid Pasechnik, with the initiative to immediately hold a referendum on accession to Russia. A few hours later, with a similar appeal to the “head” of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” Denis Pushilin also received a speech from the “Public Chamber” of the “DPR”. “We want the border of the Russian Federation to be between us and Ukraine,” the document said. After that, the “heads” of the self-proclaimed “DPR” and “LPR” discussed the calls, Pushilin suggested Pasechnik join forces “to work out steps to start preparing for the referendum.”

The referendum on the accession of the “LPR” to Russia will take place from September 23 to 27. This was stated by the “first deputy head of the People’s Council” of the self-proclaimed “republic” Dmitry Khoroshilov.

These statements were commented on at the office of the President of Ukraine. Fictional “referendums” in the occupied territories of Ukraine will not change anything from an international law point of view, said Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the OPU. “Russian propagandists are in love with ‘referendums’ as a panacea. There is bad news for them. There is a worldwide consensus and international law. Absolutely: Donetsk, Lugansky, Crimea is Ukraine. Any attempt to repaint the flags is a fiction, it will not change anything for us or for the partners,” Podolyak said on Twitter.
