The loss of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation last year amounted to 184.8 billion rubles. This was stated in the annual a report organizer.
In 2025, the Central Bank’s revenues amounted to 942 billion rubles, while expenditures amounted to 1.12 trillion rubles.
In 2024, the central bank showed profit growth of 42.5 percent. However, until 2023, the regulator has suffered losses for several years in a row. Thus, the loss in 2022 amounted to 721.7 billion rubles, which significantly exceeds the loss of 26.3 billion rubles in the previous year. At the end of 2020, the loss amounted to 61.5 billion rubles, in 2019 – 182.6 billion rubles, and at the end of 2018 – 434.7 billion rubles.
Last year, the Central Bank’s income from operations in securities, foreign currency and precious metals fell by 31.7 percent, reaching 72.3 billion rubles.
The decision of the Board of Directors of the Bank of the Russian Federation to reduce the key interest rate to 15 percent per annum, taken on March 20, is an obvious and expected action on the part of the regulator. This opinion was expressed by Maxim Zorin, Commercial Director of Prosnika in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
