The son of ex-ombudsman Astakhov was sentenced to 3.5 years – DW – 11-21-2022

The court of the Frunzensky district of Saratov has sentenced the son of the former children’s ombudsman of Russia Pavel Astakhov Anton to three and a half years in prison for fraud on a particularly large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Penal Code). This is reported by the TASS agency following the press service of the court on Monday 21 November.

According to investigators, in 2019, Astakhov and his business partner helped the head of the law firm OOO Omega to obtain a loan from the Nizhnevolzhsky Commercial Bank in Saratov in the amount of 75 million rubles, and then stole almost all the money from the account. A total of 14 people are involved in the case. An accomplice to the crime is sought, TASS notes.

Astakhov has been under house arrest since December 2021. After the verdict was announced, he stated that the judge had not taken the circumstances into account and was “fantasizing”. “We assumed there could be such lawlessness. The judge is a coward, he didn’t look at what we gave him. He drew unreasonable, illegal conclusions,” Astakhov responded to the verdict, adding that he was “by would fight”. “

The case against Nizhnevolzhsky Commercial Bank

The investigation into another case against the Nizhnevolzhsky Commercial Bank was concluded in September 2022. The bank’s managers and employees were also accused of fraud and entering into loan agreements with organizations with questionable solvency.

The Arbitration Court of the Saratov Region arrested the property of the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nizhnevolzhsky Commercial Bank Vladimir Kravtsev worth 4.7 billion rubles.
