US Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff said he had “strongly” asked Russia not to share information with Iran about possible targets for attacks against US targets in the Middle East. This came during his answer to a question from journalists on board US President Donald Trump’s plane. Voice chat published The White House on the night of March 8.
When reporters asked whether the United States had evidence that Moscow was helping Tehran, Donald Trump answered. He said he “didn’t know,” but said Iran was “not in a very good position”:
If they help, they don’t help much. If you look at what happened to Iran last week, even if they get information, it doesn’t help them much.
In response to statements that Russia was dragging itself into the conflict, Trump said that the United States had already crushed Iran’s military capabilities. “Look, they can provide all the information they want, but the people they send it to are broken. Russia will be defeated, too. Anyone will be defeated,” the US President said.
The American newspaper The Washington Post reported that Russia, according to sources, is providing Iran with information to launch attacks on American military targets in the Middle East, including ships and aircraft. One of the White Phosphorus sources described cooperation between Russia and Iran in this field as “very comprehensive.”
