The Russian Defense Ministry reported that at approximately 18:00 Moscow time on March 31, contact was lost with the An-26 military transport aircraft, which was conducting a scheduled flight over the Crimean Peninsula.
The fate of the crew and passengers on board is not known. Search and rescue teams headed to the suspected area of the accident.
The Defense Ministry said (quoted by Interfax) that “there was no harmful effect on the plane.”
It is not known how many people were on board. The An-26 is designed to accommodate a crew of six and up to 38 passengers.
