According to the Istanbul Governor’s Office, a domestic gas leak is being considered a primary cause, as eyewitnesses reported hearing an explosion and feeling a shock wave before the collapse. Reports said that the incident occurred in the Avansaray neighborhood of the old building TRT.

On February 26, in the city of Shchushensk, Akmola region of Kazakhstan, an explosion of a gas and air mixture occurred in a cafe attached to a five-story residential building. According to preliminary data, six people were killed and about 20 others were injured as a result of the accident. Firefighters arrived at the scene within five minutes, removed eight gas cylinders from the burning building and rescued more than 10 people.
