Ukrainian Bindl will compete for a ticket to the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Uruguay

Ukrainian Ekaterina Bindl (Kozlova) won the opening match of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tournament – Montevideo Open – in Montevideo (Uruguay) with a prize pool of $115,000.

To reach the second round of the competition, 6th seed Bindl (No. 111 in the WTA rating) won a strong-willed victory over American Emma Navarro (No. 148) – 4:6, 7:5, 6:3 , Ukrinform reports.

Tennis players spent 2 hours and 40 minutes on the court.

Bindl will compete for a ticket to the quarterfinals with Czech Brenda Frugvirtova (No. 130), who defeated Argentina’s Maria Lourdes Carle (No. 147) 6:3, 6:2.

The tournament in Uruguay ends on November 27.
