The Strikers opted to play first after winning the toss. The move didn’t go over well for the Tigers, who lost Hazratullah Zazai and Joe Clarke with just 15 points on the board. Evin Lewis and Colin Munro then joined hands to put together 63 runs for the third wicket. Lewis also broke a brilliant half-century, scoring 58 points.

Shakib Al Hasan gave the final boost to the team’s score by making 14 runs on just six balls. The Tigers managed to post 131 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 10 overs. Wahab Riaz and Ravi Rampaul took two wickets each in their respective two overs.

In response, only Azam Khan and Kieron Pollard could hit double the numbers. While Azam hit 34 runs on just 13 balls, NYS skipper Pollard battled to the finish to score an unbeaten 45 on just 19 balls. Between them, the duo hit seven fours and six sixes but there was very little input from other players.

For the same reason, the New York Strikers could only score 112 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 10 overs. Matheesha Pathirana and Rohan Mustafa shared four wickets equally between them.

In the second match of the evening, the Deccan Gladiators took advantage of the excellent batting of West Indian cricketer Nicholas Pooran. He went undefeated on 77 after choosing to bat first. Coupled with Odean Smith’s 23, the Gladiators amassed 134 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 10 overs.

Peter Hatzoglou and Fabian Allen were the best bowlers in the Abu Dhabi team, scalping two wickets each. In response, the Abu Dhabi team didn’t get off to a good start, with Chris Lynn and Alex Hales exiting with just 35 points on the board. James Vince and Fabian Allen struggled for a while with a stand of 43 points.

But the Abu Dhabi team has never been in the race. Vince scored 37 carries on 19 balls while Allen hit 26* on just 13 balls. They could only reach 99 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 10 overs.
