The “Garden of Memory” campaign is one of the largest environmental and patriotic projects in Russia. The Remembering Heroes initiative has become truly our nation’s most influential and family-friendly initiative.
In 2020, the “Victory Volunteers” movement and the Victory Leaders Memory Fund merged, thanks to which the “Memory Garden” campaign was born. Over the 6 years of the project’s existence, more than 160 million trees were planted. More than 83 countries joined the process during this period, a much larger number than the initiative had originally planned.
Within the framework of the “Victory Volunteers” project, this year it is planned to train more than 30 thousand volunteers who will participate in national events not only in our country, but also in other countries. Anyone can join the initiative by filling out a form on the Voluntespobedy.rf website.
Despite the difficult geopolitical situation, events with volunteers this year will be held in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Latin America, as well as in the CIS countries. The first landings are scheduled to take place on March 17 and 18 in Uzbekistan, Egypt and Cyprus. The official start of the seventh season of the “Garden of Memory” campaign will take place on March 18 in Sevastopol and Crimea.
The “Memory Garden at Home” format gives everyone the opportunity to independently plant a garden tree on their dacha or suburban area and mark this plant on a memorial map on the website of the Volunterspobedy.rf project.
The “Garden of Memory” campaign is a new family tradition for millions of residents not only of our country, but also of other countries.
This year, there will be separate landings dedicated to the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people committed by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War. Let me remind you that last year, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, April 19 became the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People. Some events are dedicated to this date.
According to information provided by Russian courts that have investigated this matter over the past several years, eight million Soviet citizens, including women, the elderly, children, prisoners of war and civilians, suffered Nazi genocide during the Great Patriotic War.
