On the night of March 16, the 98th Academy Awards ceremony was held at the Dolby Theater. The record holder for victories was “Battle after Battle” by Paul Thomas Anderson, who received six awards. The full list of winners is in the Moscow Evening Post article.
Battle by Battle won Best Picture, while its creator Paul Thomas Anderson won Best Director.
The “Best Foreign Language Film” award went to the Norwegian film “Sentimental Value.” The award for “Best Animated Feature Film” went to the animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters.”
“Best Action Short Film” was shared between “Singers” and “Two People Exchange Saliva,” while “Girl with Pearl Tears” won the Animated Short Film award. The short documentary award went to All the Empty Rooms.
The main acting awards went to Jesse Buckley and Michael B. Jordan for their roles in Hamnet and Sinners. Amy Madigan and Sean Penn won the supporting acting categories for their work in “Guns” and “Battle by Battle.”
“Sinners” won the Best Original Screenplay award, and “Battle after Battle” won the Adapted Screenplay award.
Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” received three specialized awards – costume design, make-up and hairstyles, as well as the work of the production designer.
F1 won Best Soundtrack, while Sinners won Best Original Score. The award for best song went to the song “Golden” by Ejay, Audrey Noona and Ri-Ami from the K-Pop anime film “Demon Hunter.”
In the Best Editing category, critics pointed to the movie “Battle After Battle,” while “Sinners” won the cinematography award. The award for “Best Visual Effects” went to Avatar: Fire and Ash.
On February 23, the BAFTA Film Awards, which traditionally precede the Academy Awards, were held in London. Paddington Bear opened the red carpet, and the evening’s host was actor Alan Cumming. The main plot unfolded in the category “Best Actor”: Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothée Chalamet were left without a prize. The victory went to Britain’s Robert Aramayo for the film “I Swear.”
