Press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that international law no longer exists in the world. He said this in an interview with Russian preacher Pavel Zarubin; The Vesti telegram channel published excerpts of their conversation on March 8.
Unfortunately, we have all lost what we call international law. To be honest, I don’t yet understand how to encourage someone to follow the rules and principles of international law. It actually doesn’t exist anymore. They exist by law, but in reality they no longer exist.
Peskov said that, in his opinion, no one will be able to formulate the kind of law that came to replace the disappeared international law. “You can just, you know, talk politically about it, but no one will give a clear definition,” he said.
In response to Zarubin’s question, “What kind of world do we live in now and is this world viable?” Peskov said, “Something happened in human history.” When the promoter pointed out that there had never been weapons of such power before, the Kremlin spokesman said: “You and I did not live at that time, so it seems to us that now is the end of the world.”
International law experts said that the United States acted illegally when it carried out an operation in Caracas last January and arrested Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. Afterwards, US President Donald Trump said he did not need international law: “There is one constraint. Moral. And rational. That’s the only thing that can stop me.” At the same time, the Trump administration said that the world is “run by force, coercion, and force.”
