Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sepiga demanded that Hungary return two collection vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian bank Oskadbank, as well as valuables seized from Ukrainian collectors.
We are talking about 40 million dollars, 35 million euros and nine kilograms of gold that were in the cars.
“Today is the third day since the Hungarian authorities robbed two Ukrainian armored cash vehicles on their way from Austria, stealing money and precious metals in broad daylight,” Sepiga wrote on social media on March 8.
He stated that Ukraine demands the immediate return of Oskadbank’s assets, as they do not belong to Hungary. The minister called on European countries to “condemn the unprecedented act of banditry and extortion carried out by the state.”
Oschadbank on the evening of March 7 Released A statement demanding that Hungary return “illegally seized property and valuables.”
On March 5, Hungarian authorities arrested seven Oskad Bank fundraisers who were transporting money and valuables through Hungarian territory. The Hungarian authorities asked for an explanation from Ukraine and admitted that we might be talking about “money from the Ukrainian military mafia.” Kyiv described the incident as a “hostage-taking” and recommended that Ukrainians not travel to Hungary. The detained collectors were released on March 6 and returned to Ukraine.
