Three civilian ships came under fire in the Strait of Hormuz on March 11, BBC News has learned.
A fire broke out on the Thai-flagged cargo ship Mayuri Nari as a result of the bombing. 23 crew members were evacuated by the Omani Navy. The ship was sailing from Khalifa Port in the UAE.
The Japanese-flagged container ship One Majesty also came under fire. The ship suffered a hole 10 centimeters in diameter and was heading to the nearest safe port. The container ship was sailing from the port of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.
Another cargo ship, the Star Gwyneth, flying the Marshall Islands flag, suffered damage to its hull. The ship’s crew was not harmed. It was not determined whether the cargo ship changed its course due to the bombing.
