Moscow will support the annual national prize in the field of future technologies “Challenge”. The corresponding decree was signed by the capital’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Saturday, June 27.
The award was established in 2023 by the Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations “The Challenge” in cooperation with Gazprombank. It is awarded for scientific developments in the field of physics, mathematics, chemistry, materials science and other fields. The award is open to scientists, engineers and inventors whose projects have the potential to improve people’s lives and can be implemented within 10 years.
In 2026, the award will be awarded in five categories: “Engineering Solution,” “Breakthrough,” “Scientist of the Year,” “Perspective,” and “Discovery.” The winners will receive 13 million rubles in each category. The awards ceremony will be held in December. Applications closed on May 25. 386 applications were received from capital scholars, and a total of 1,438 applications were submitted, which is 6.5 times more than in 2023, according to official reports. outlet Mayor of Moscow.
Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin said that in the current academic year, 47 thousand high school students study in pre-vocational classes, get more hours in specialized subjects and can implement projects in university laboratories, consult with scientists and learn about production.
