The authorities of the Bryansk region declared March 11 a day of mourning for those killed as a result of the Ukrainian strike on the Silicon L microelectronics factory.

Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported this morning that the raid killed six people and injured 42 others; 29 of them, including a child, were taken to hospital.

The attack using Storm Shadow missiles had occurred the night before. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky described it as a “successful operation,” noting that the factory that was the target of the attack also produces components for Russian missiles. “We are defending ourselves,” Zelensky said.

Today, satellite images showing the consequences of the attack were distributed to the Ukrainian OSINT masses. It follows that the main production workshop of the Silicon El factory was bombed at least five times.

The Bryansk College of Management and Business, closely adjacent to Silicon L’s territory, was also attacked. Judging by frameworkphotographed by eyewitnesses, at least one missile landed directly on the road a few hundred meters from the factory.

Silicon El is one of the largest microelectronics companies in Russia. Its chips are used in missile systems and drones. The factory had previously been repeatedly attacked by Ukrainian drones. The last time this happened was in January 2025, when the plant had to suspend operations for a time.

Russian President Vladimir Putin did not comment on the attack on Bryansk and did not express his condolences for the loss of life. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov emphasized that such missile attacks “would not have been possible without British specialists.” He added: “To ensure that such atrocities of the Kiev regime do not continue, a special military operation is being implemented.”

The Baltic and Northern European countries are preparing a new plan to provide financing to Ukraine in the event that Hungary and Slovakia continue to block a €90 billion loan from the European Union. He writes POLITICO.

As anonymous European diplomats told the newspaper, we are talking about 30 billion euros. They could be allocated in the form of bilateral loans, so such a solution would not require the approval of all EU countries.

The idea of bilateral loans to Ukraine was discussed last December, before the EU leaders’ summit. Then the Brussels newspaper Politico wrote that they preferred to get the approval of Hungary and Slovakia to provide a European loan – so as not to question European solidarity regarding Ukraine.

However, now, against the backdrop of intensified conflict between Kiev and Budapest over the cessation of oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline, bilateral loans under time pressure remain “almost the only option.” According to European diplomats, Ukraine now has money to cover urgent expenses only until the end of May.

Brussels expects the situation to change after the parliamentary elections in Hungary, which are scheduled to take place on April 12. If Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s party loses (which is very likely, given recent opinion polls), Hungary’s potential new leader, Péter Magyar, will likely not block the loan, and if Orbán wins, he may also concede, because he will no longer need the harsh anti-Ukrainian rhetoric around which he is currently building his election campaign.

European Commissioner for Defense Valdis Dombrovskis yesterday maleDespite Hungary’s position, Ukraine will receive a loan from the European Union worth 90 billion euros “one way or another.”

War through the eyes of Medusa readers

Anonymous reader (Bryansk). Yesterday, the city where I live, Bryansk, was attacked. It happened that I saw these deadly charges flying from the windows of my house, heard their piercing whistle, and understood what they were aiming at. The Krymny factory was attacked.

Footage from the scene of the accident (debris fell on a nearby bus stop) was immediately spread across Ukrainian and Russian public pages. And you know what’s scary? comments. Ukrainians smile mockingly at the severed hands and corpses, and the Russians curse “Hechlopidur.” The monster of war has given rise to boundless hatred, which, having blinded people, does not allow them to consider the main beneficiary who unleashed this bloody madness.

Being half Ukrainian, and simply a caring person, I feel all the pain of the Ukrainian people, but being half Russian, I am horrified and numb to what happened here, even though I understand that this is a war.
