In the Krasnodar Territory, an oil refinery in Tikhoretsk caught fire as a result of a drone attack – Meduza

On the night of March 12, Ukrainian drones bombed an oil refining complex in Tikhoretsk, Krasnodar Territory. A fire broke out in the refinery, and footage of it appeared on social media.

The head of the Tikhoretsky region, Anatoly Perepilin, confirmed on his VKontakte page that “during a drone attack” a fire broke out at the refinery. He added that emergency services were trying to put out the fire, but no casualties were reported.

The Tikhoretsk oil hub, reminiscent of Astra, is one of the largest oil transportation points in southern Russia.

Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries, after which companies are often forced to stop operations, are one of the reasons for gasoline shortages and high prices in Russia.

After the start of the war between the United States and Israel with Iran, global oil prices rose sharply. Iran announced that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which one of the main routes for global oil supplies passes.
