Lebanon is embroiled in a major new war in the Middle East after Hezbollah, backed by Iran, begins bombing Israel. This happened on the night of March 2, when news of the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was confirmed.
In response, Israel began bombing Lebanon – and mainly the southern part of the country, which was effectively controlled by Hezbollah and not the Lebanese government, was attacked. The Lebanese capital, Beirut, is also under attack.
