Israel has notified Washington of a severe shortage of ballistic missile interception capabilities amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. Semafor reported this on Saturday, March 14, citing unnamed US officials.
According to sources, Israel entered the war and already had a limited supply of interceptor missiles – most of which were used during the 12-day war in 2025. The US admitted that it had known about this for months, and generally “anticipated and predicted” such a situation.
At the same time, the American side emphasized that it itself does not suffer from a shortage: the Pentagon has a sufficient number of missiles for THAAD systems, fighters and interceptor missiles in the central sector.
“We have everything necessary to protect our bases, our personnel in the region, and our interests,” the official said.
He added that Israel is now looking for ways to solve the problem. As he confirmed editionIt is not known whether the United States will supply the ammunition directly to Israel or share it with it.
Earlier, information appeared in the media indicating that tensions are rapidly escalating between Washington and Tel Aviv. The reason was the Israeli attacks on Iranian oil infrastructure.
On March 12, Konstantin Blokhin, a senior researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that the change in Trump’s rhetoric on the issue of armed conflict with Iran resulted from the failure to reach a quick result that Washington and Jerusalem had hoped for.
