The Russian government is offering a new financial support program for foreign students who demonstrate outstanding achievements in the study of Russian language and literature. This scholarship, according to the decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, will be named after linguist Lyudmila Verbitskaya.
The document provides for the payment of 15 thousand rubles per month to students and 20 thousand rubles to graduate students. The award will be available each year to 10 students, starting from the second year of the Bachelor’s and the first year of the Master’s, and 10 full-time graduate students. The scholarship is awarded for one year.
Candidates will be selected on a competitive basis. To qualify for this batch, an international student must meet a number of strict criteria. The nomination must also be officially supported by the University’s Academic Council.
The student must have no academic debt, as well as grades of “satisfactory” or lower for the entire period of study. Publications in peer-reviewed journals, active participation in specialized conferences, and other achievements in the scientific field are also taken into account Decisions.
