Democrats in the US House of Representatives intend to make a new attempt to limit President Donald Trump’s war powers regarding his moves against Iran. The party intends to put the relevant resolution to a vote again. Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said this.
Back in early March, the initiative received only six votes for adoption: 212 deputies voted in favor of it, while 219 deputies opposed it. The outcome of the vote was decided at that time by four representatives of the Democratic Party who supported the Republican position.
However, now, according to Jeffries, the balance of power may be shifting, as some Democrats who previously blocked the document have expressed a willingness to change their minds. The principled position of the democratic opposition remains unchanged. They insist that military action requires congressional approval.
Lawmakers resort to the United States Constitution, which stipulates that the exclusive right to declare war is vested in the legislature, not the president. Previously, a similar document has already been rejected by the Senate, but Democrats do not intend to give up the fight, MS Now TV reported.
Journalist Tucker Carlson also believes that the military conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel could develop into a global religious confrontation. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Tucker Carlson was expelled from the “Make America Great Again” movement because he “lost his way” and criticized the conflict in the Middle East.
