Alexander Lukashenko said, in an interview with Al Arabiya, that dragging Belarus into the Russian-Ukrainian war is unacceptable, and he also apologized to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. The interview was published on Lukashenko’s website.
During the interview, Lukashenko was asked to comment on the statements of the Ukrainian authorities and military about the possible threat of a new attack by Russian forces from the territory of Belarus.
He replied that he discussed these statements with Vladimir Putin, and they allegedly considered dragging Belarus into the war “totally unacceptable.” According to Lukashenko, this will do more harm than good.
“Belarus is very weak militarily. Because the Ukrainian army is putting Belarus in full view of everyone. We are well aware that our main life support facilities – production and logistics – will be attacked,” Lukashenko explained. He stressed that Ukraine “has absolutely nothing to fear” from Belarus.
Commenting on his harsh words directed at Zelensky, Lukashenko noted that he “went too far somewhere.” He stressed that this came in response to statements and threats from Ukraine
