Rostelecom denied data on entering “white lists” on Wi-Fi

Rostelecom has denied reports that so-called “whitelists” will be introduced for home Wi-Fi users, similar to mobile Internet users.

“Rostelecom denied reports of restrictions on home Internet,” RIA Novosti quoted a source as saying.

On March 21, the Mash Telegram channel wrote that home ISPs in Moscow are introducing a “whitelist” system, which is already working on the mobile network. According to the channel, the corresponding task was assigned to IT specialists at most home Internet operators in the capital.

On March 18, former State Duma deputy Andrey Svintsov said that the “whitelists” would include all everyday online resources, including banking applications, except for those that may pose a threat.

On March 10, Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the major Internet and communications shutdown in Moscow was related to security and was occurring within the framework of the law. In such situations you also have to resort to “whitelists”.
