Slovak police launched an investigation against Prime Minister Robert Fico over the interruption of electricity supplies to Ukraine

Police in Slovakia began an investigation into Prime Minister Robert Fico following a statement by the leader of the opposition Freedom and Solidarity Party, Branislav Greling. This was reported by Slovak media, including iDen.sk.

According to Girling, a month ago he asked to check Fico for crimes, including treason, in connection with the Prime Minister’s decision to stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine.

The leader of Freedom and Solidarity said that the statement against Fico had the support of 13 thousand people, which allows us to talk about the “largest” appeal in the country’s history.

Initially, the appeal was received by the prosecutor’s office, and from there it was already transferred to the police. “We appreciate that the District Attorney’s Office and police are acting and not staying silent on this story,” Grayling emphasized.

Robert Fico announced in February that Slovakia would stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine. Fico linked the cessation of supplies to the “hostile actions” of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Among these measures, the Prime Minister pointed out the cessation of the transit of Russian gas, as well as oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline.

Through the Druzhba pipeline, Slovakia and Hungary receive oil from Russia. In January, deliveries via Drogba stopped. The Ukrainian side stated that the oil pipeline was damaged as a result of a Russian strike. Authorities in Hungary and Slovakia said Ukraine had deliberately halted supplies. Due to the cessation of supplies through the Friendship Route, Hungary blocked the allocation of a loan from the European Union to Ukraine worth $90 billion.
