An oil tanker explodes near the Panama Canal Bridge, causing casualties (video)

An explosion occurred under the Panama Canal Bridge, setting three fuel tanks on fire. The local fire service reported this on Monday, April 6 on social networks.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was a fire in the tanker. After the fuel exploded, the fire spread to nearby fuel tanks. The accident resulted in three people being injured. Two of them suffered second-degree burns and were taken to hospital. The fate of another person is still unknown, and search efforts are continuing.

Traffic was suspended on the Panama Canal Bridge. Authorities urged citizens to avoid the area.

On March 31, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an incident that occurred 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai. An unidentified shell hit the starboard side of the tanker, causing a fire on the ship.

On March 26, the Turkish tanker Altura flying the Sierra Leone flag, which transports 140,000 tons of oil, was attacked by drones in the Black Sea, 24 kilometers from the entrance to the Bosphorus Strait.
