On May 19, the Russian Minister of Sports and President of the Republic of China, Mikhail Degtyarev, announced that the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations had restored to athletes from the Russian Federation the right to compete in tournaments with the flag and anthem of the country.

On May 15, the WWF also allowed athletes from Russia to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of its organization. Sanctions on Russians have been lifted in more than 20 federations.
