Director of the Carnegie Berlin Center for the Study of Russia and Eurasia, Alexander Gabuev, received a judgment in absentia in the Russian Federation, the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in Moscow reported.
The Savolovsky District Court of Moscow found Gabuev guilty of criminal charges of violating procedures related to the activities of a “foreign agent” (330.1 of the Criminal Code) and participating in the activities of an “undesirable” organization (284.1 of the Criminal Code).
The court’s ruling was imprisonment for four years and two months and a ban on managing the website for three years.
Gabuev was declared a “foreign agent” in June 2023. He now resides permanently outside Russia.
