The Raminsky Historical and Artistic Museum of the Moscow Region donated antiquities from its collection for display at the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill. A real rarity was included in the historical and multimedia exhibition “Path to Victory”, which opened on the 80th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War.
“Residents and guests of the capital will now be able to see these unique rarities in the interactive “Monuments of Victory” complex, which is part of the large-scale exhibition “Path to Victory”. Thanks to smart glass technology, objects literally come to life, showing a map of the military operations in which their owner participated, showing photos and videos of his life and exploits. Thus, guests of the museum on Poklonnaya Hill will see a seemingly ordinary military hat. But this part of a soldier’s daily life has an unusual history. The bowler hat displayed in the display case belongs to the fighter Vasily Alekseevich Kirillov, who participated in battles almost from the first days of the Great Patriotic War and was wounded three times. One of the wounds was received near Stalingrad, while Vasily Alekseevich miraculously survived a severe shrapnel wound. But his front hat, which had served him faithfully since before the war, was left on the battlefield with two holes in it. Vasily Kirillov continued his path on the front line – he fought near Kursk, and distinguished himself while crossing the Dnieper. Many years after the end of the war, he found himself near Volgograd, walked through the places where he fought with the enemy, and found his old military hat – he recognized it by the initials scratched with a knife and two holes. And then, for many years, this humble element of military life was a real family heirloom of the hero.
