The suspect in the murder of a policeman in the Orenburg region was detained, TASS reported, citing the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
According to the Investigative Committee, the police shooting on April 16, which resulted in the death of one Interior Ministry officer and the wounding of three others, was opened by Private Sergei Basalaev, who was on the federal wanted list.
“He left the part without permission,” Baslev told the press service of the Investigative Committee.
Basalaev was accused of leaving his unit without permission during the mobilization period, encroaching on the life of law enforcement officers, murder and attempted murder. The Investigation Committee stated that the court authorized his arrest.
Baza and 112 reported on February 16 that police in the Orenburg region attempted to arrest a criminal on the federal wanted list in the village of Akermanovka. When the suspect saw the police, he opened fire on them.
According to Russian law, committing crimes “during mobilization or martial law” is an aggravating circumstance.
