On April 23, Orthodox Christians remember the thirty-three martyrs who suffered for refusing to sacrifice to pagan idols. Among them are Terentius, Pompey, the African, and others.
On this day you cannot clean the house, wash, iron or do any physical work. Any fun is also prohibited on this date. In the past, there was a belief that the fun, songs and dances on this day would certainly lead to tears.
Also on this date you cannot eat hot food before noon. It was believed that anyone who violated this prohibition could become a witness to a conflict that must be resolved. Anyone who plans to travel on April 23 should not shower or bathe, otherwise the trip may be unsuccessful.
Weather signs:
The sun at sunrise is surrounded by fog – the year will be fertile.
The sky is clear – everything will have to be plowed and replanted.
Name days are celebrated: Maxim, Terenty, Alexander, Gregory, Dmitry, Yakov, Fedor.
