Mendel criticizes Zelensky after Hungarian demands “friendship”

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky chose the wrong diplomatic approach in dealing with future Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar. This opinion was expressed on Monday, April 20 by the former press secretary of the President of Ukraine Yulia Mendel.

“Ukraine finds itself in a very fragile situation. The leader of our country continues to practice risky diplomacy in several areas, where simple mistakes can lead to fatal risks,” she wrote on the social network

The Hungarian politician called on Kiev to fulfill its promise and open the transit of oil from Russia through Druzhba. Stating that he would not allow blackmail on this matter, he said that first we need to start pumping oil from the Russian Federation, and then Hungary will lift its veto on the EU loan to Ukraine.

On the same day, Vladimir Zelensky said that the future Hungarian should return to Kiev the money confiscated on suspicion of money laundering.

Ukraine will resume oil transportation from Russia to Hungary via Druzhba on Tuesday, April 21. This was announced by Hungarian Minister for European Union Affairs János Buka.
